Wainfleet 2019 Floods and Relief Effort

In June 2019 Lincolnshire experienced heavy rain over a period of several days peaking with the equivalent of two months rain falling in two days. Wainfleet became the focus of media reporting when the Steeping River breached it’s bank flooding the area to the north of the town. This lowered the river in the town itself and possibly prevented the flooding of a more populous area but around 130 properties were still flooded and around 600 evacuated for fear of a larger breach.

Below we include some photos taken by Gareth Rowlands from Mablethorpe which he has kindly provided us for publication on this site. Gareth was assisting in the area as part of the Lincolnshire 4×4 Response team.
