Race Night a Galloping Success!

The weekend before last saw Alford’s very first ‘Ascot in Alford’ themed race night presented by Alford Town Promotions, which raised over £1,500 for Alford’s Christmas Spectacular due to take place on 30th November.

The race night was at full capacity with all 100 tickets sold and even more people turning up on the night. The delicious afternoon tea style food that was put on by The Alford Deli went down a treat and people commented on how great the Corn Exchange looked with all the decorations which included the finest table settings, a ‘stable selfie’ booth and giant wooden horse heads lent by Askews Furniture Retailer. Even a green grass entry carpet was laid out for the arrival of the punters who were all glammed up Ascot style and adorned with a wonderful array of hats that were judged on the night.

The evening was hosted by Bob and Nicky who did a fantastic job of making the evening fun and exciting with lots of laughs. Special thanks also to the The Rotary Club of Alford & Mablethorpe who were a huge help, selling the totes for each race and helping to add that official touch to the night’s proceedings.

The night couldn’t have taken place without the generous sponsorship of local businesses and groups and of course without all the hard work and time put in by the volunteers. The event was just one of many, past and future, that will help raise money for Alford’s Christmas Spectacular and to also put the town back on the map. More events will be taking place throughout 2020 and you can find out more about those events and the 2019 Christmas Spectacular by following the Alford Town Promotions Facebook Page.
