Free Pom Pom Kits for Alford Residents During the Lockdown

We have in our town the Alford Craft Market, it is a not for profit organisation that was established in 1974. It does everything, craft lessons, pottery, art, glass and of course has a fantastic shop. But, as with everything it has been closed for some time. The ACM has been bringing the community of Alford and its surrounding villages together, with the help of a generous discount from The Wool Factory and all the volunteers from Chester & George Care & Share Community Support Group.

We have sent out to children, seniors, and adults a Pom Pom Kit (free of charge), in the kit they will make up a pom pom, with a label. The colours are of course, the rainbow. When all the pom poms are returned to the Pom Pom headquarters, they will be made into hopefully, the largest and longest pom pom garland and this will be strung up around Alford Market Square or the large tree. Each label, will have their names and of course, most importantly, a message to either their families, friends or just a message to the world, about anything that is currently happening in their own personal lock down. Also, in the next few days, ACM are sending out to 420 children in the area a free craft kit, to keep them occupied and learn a craft, so important, if your town is known for its crafts.

The pom pom garland will be displayed in approximately the first week in May for all to see. All the pom poms are to be returned by end of April. Of course, we know we cannot congregate in the town, due to lock down, but we will have photos on our Facebook page Alford Craft Market and website.
