An Update From the SOS Gardening Group

Sutton On Sea Gardening Group Flowers On the Pullover
Flowers on the Pullover

The new committee and members of the Sutton on Sea Gardening Group have had a busy year in 2023.

The BT land on The Broadway was revamped by the group and we have had many positive comments. We will be working on it again soon for the Autumn/Winter season.

The area around the Flagpole and Memorial looks lovely again, and what was the Incredible Edible area has also had a revamp.

During the year we have had to move a number of plants, including the roses, in preparation for the start of work on the old Colonnade area. We are glad that some of these roses have been used by the local residents. Then there is the area by the Diana Garden, the entrance planters and the Anchor area which the group have also worked hard on.

Several of our members were involved with the painting of the triangular wall underneath the beach huts. The theme is the ancient submerged forest, just off the coast here. Sir Joseph Banks, famous Lincolnshire botanist, took various samples from the forest including holly samples which are some of the oldest plant samples in the world. Thank you to Laura Lilley for co-ordinating this work and getting various community groups involved.

Lastly, but most importantly, we would like to thank the new members who have joined us this year and everyone who has donated to the group. We could not keep going with the work we do without your input.
