Hope and Light Christmas Project

Hope and Light Project Logo

East Lindsey District Council’s Vital and Viable project have been made increasingly aware of the disappointment shared by our local communities and businesses at seeing Christmas markets and events cancelled. With this in mind we are pleased to announce we are working with Different Light Collective, the organisation behind Spilsby Light Night, to deliver Hope and Light – a unique community project that will see special light projections take place in Alford, Horncastle, Louth and Spilsby.

Take Part and Decorate a Template

The Hope and Light team have released templates which members of the community are encouraged to design, decorate and return, so they can be included in the projections which will run each night in December until New Years’ Eve.

Each town has its own unique themed template. Residents can complete as many as they want before the deadline of November 6, at which point all the designs will be animated and turned into the short films that will be projected in each town. Templates are available online at www.different-light.co.uk with a number of hard copies available in shops and community venues in each town – look out for the poster.

Completed templates need to be returned to hello@different-light.co.uk or to the Alford Town Promotions shop, 28 South Market Place, via post to Different Light Collective, c/o Spilsby Sessions House, Church Street, Spilsby, Lincolnshire, PE23 5DY.

Hope and Light will also see an empty shop front in each town transformed with a festive backdrop and digital display, which will show all the designs submitted by the local community. In December, residents will also be encouraged to share their hopes and wishes for the coming year by completing a special weatherproof tag and affixing it to a display in the town centre; more details on where to get the tags will be shared soon.

We believe Hope and Light represents a safe way to bring our local communities together this Christmas; encouraging safe, manageable footfall into our market towns. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or any ideas on how to get the word out. We are especially looking for contacts in community groups, schools and nursing homes. Please email any suggestions to samantha.phillips@e-lindsey.gov.uk.
